The redesigned New York Times website integrates the indepth news and cultural stories that are the core features of the newsprint paper with practical tools that make use of the Internet advantages. The NYT site has added a Video section, where you can select features that range from online tutorials – such as a line-by-line guide to completing your tax return – to reviews of dance performances. Keep apprised of new videos through your newsreader.
The Business section has expanded the publicly traded companies tracking tool and added a visual view of stock market events. The Times tagline invokes us to “Research our database of more than 50,000 publicly-traded companies for continually updated news and information.”
A search on “General Motors” returned a page with a chart of the day’s stock trades. The business events list Analyst Ratings, Insider Trades and recent SEC filings – all with links to charts and more detailed material. The recent news is categorized by its appearance in the NYT, MarketWatch and press releases.
Combine this with Yahoo & Google’s finance sections with their profiles and chat boards, and you have a good source of info to build a profile on.
