The Napa County Recorder index is online and, as in most jurisdictions, returns limited information: document type and number. One curious addition would seem to violate two tenets of the Public Records Act: equal access and reasonable fees for direct copying. The Recorder will give you online access to document images for $3600 a year. Or, if you’re not getting hundreds of documents, go to Courthouse Direct and pay a reasonable per document fee.
