Wisconsin’s governor signed into law Assembly Bill 536, Prohibiting a register of deeds from recording certain instruments that contain more than a partial social security number and providing a penalty, which will make a filer of a recorded document subject to a $5000 penalty, when a social security number is included. An exception to SSNs on documents is made for federal tax liens.
