The limited statewide California Divorce Index, produced by the Department of Vital Records for a mere 18 years, has been added to the Ancestry.com product line. Divorces that occurred from 1966 to 1984 are searchable by name or partial name, and can be cross referenced with a spouse name or date of divorce, and restricted to a specific county. View a summary record that lists the spouse, location and date of the divorce, or view the microfiche image.
The California Marriage Index, 1960-1985, was also recently added, but this is widely available in other places.

Thanks but I know for a fact that, that info is incorrect I know my parents were divorced in Orange county but thats all I know when I went to the orange county records to get it there was nothing there but on Ancestery.com it shows divorce info on my parents for orange county I just can’t get dates since I am a non payer thanks so much for your help
Looks like they were divorced May 1971 in county no. 30, and July of 1974 in county no. 4. Both entries say they were married in 1968.
Thank you so much I know the first one it is infact incorrect the second is right again thank you
You’re most welcome, and good luck with all your research.

looking for information on my divorce parents.
Joseph Reine Duarte (father)
Gayle Ann Odell (Mother)
Divorce year is 1965 - 1970.
It is my understanding that the divorce was in california, other wise it would have been oakland county, Michigan.
I was raised by my mother, and all information about my father has been kept a close secret.
You give good information but you need to search the free databases, and then start the search from the last place you knew him to be.
Do you have an approximate age? You at least need to calculate that. Was he born in the U.S.? Family Tree Legends has a great free search for California natives at http://www.familytreelegends.com/records/calbirths and there are others like http://www.birthdatabase.com/ that may help to identify a birth date.
California is a difficult area to search divorce records because the State court system isn’t unified and only certain courts have public information. Databases can and are incomplete and often outdated. Search in the county you believe he may have last lived and check with the county courts there first.
You should also search this blog because Tamara is an expert and probably has some good information for you.
