New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has issued Proposed Amendments To Public Access To Departmental Records and Access To Personal Information Regulations, a guide to accessing files held by the Attorney General’s office, as required under the state Public Officers Law and the Personal Privacy Protection Law.

Since you asked me to chime in, here goes.
For the record these proposed amendments are not part of an actual “guide” but rather if adopted will be part of the NY AG’s rules and regulations and which can be found in Title 13 New York Codes Rules and regulations (NYCRR) Department of Law, Part 120. Looking these amendments over there isn’t much except the blaring fact that the AG lost their offices at the WTC which was is listed in the current regs under part 120.5. Additionally, the current part 120.20 fees provid that copies of the first 5 or fewer pages are gratis as long as they are under 8 1/2 x 14″. Oh well, there goes the free lunch. Also, they will add new part 120.40, Trade Secret … As far as Part 121, access to personal info., the major change again is the locations of records which currently lists the WTC and 9 other cities in NYS has been reduced to 2 locations.
